Today I pack up my old, leaky dorm room, hit the road to Nashville, and headed home...for a week at least. This summer I will be working for LifeWay as a World Changers Summer Staffer. My team is called the South Team, one of fourteen teams made up of four summer staffers. Each staffer on a team has different tasks and responsibilities. There is an Office Manager, Music Leader, Missions Communications Specialist, and Audio/Visual Tech. I am the Missions Communications Specialist. Durning the day my main job is dealing with media such as news stations, news papers, and radio stations that are local near the city we are in for that week, telling them why there are hundreds of teenagers doing construction work in their city, and also sharing about Jesus. Durning the evening I tell the participants about missions and how they can get involved beyond World Changers.
World Changers is a short term missions project where church groups from all over the nation come for one week, working outside in the heat, cold showers, and sleeping on the floors of churches and dorm rooms to share the Gospel through construction work. Students work on houses, schools, businesses, and other places throughout the community for people who cannot afford work themselves or physically cannot complete the tasks that need to be done.
I plan to keep this blog throughout the summer for friends and family to have when they want to keep up with me and my busy schedule. As I take this last week to make my rounds visiting family and seeing friends, along with packing, you could be praying for me and my team. We will be traveling thousands of miles this summer and coming in contact with many lost people. Prayer for our safety and our hearts as we prepare for training and our first project would be much appreciated.
